The Kansas City Chiefs are closely associated with the early history of the Super Bowl, having played in the first and fourth editions. With the 50th Super Bowl being played this season, the Chiefs honored their super teams at halftime of a week 2 game against the Denver Broncos. Players from Super Bowls I and IV took the field at Arrowhead Stadium to cheers from appreciative Chiefs fans. The Super Bowl IV team remains the only winner in Chiefs history, having beaten the heavily favored Minnesota Vikings 23–7. That Chiefs defense was one of the best in NFL history. Five of its players are enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
