Steven Jasinski made a huge discovery while pursuing his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania. His studies led him to the State Museum of Pennsylvania, where he reviewed the museum’s fossil collection. It was here that he noticed one fossil had been mislabeled and was actually a piece of a whole new dinosaur. Jasinski studied the skull fragment and noticed it had a large olfactory bulb, or the spot where the sense of smell stems from. Jasinski believes this dinosaur used its sense of smell to help it hunt at night.
