A huge Burmese python was caught in the Everglades National Park along a popular road. The female snake was 18.3 feet (5.6 m) long and weighed 133 pounds (60 kg). Few known Burmese pythons have been bigger. Burmese pythons are an invasive species in the Everglades so wildlife officials humanely euthanized her after she was caught. This means other animals in the national park stay safe, as well as park visitors.
