Super Bowl XLIX Attracts A Record 114.4 Million Viewers

The New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks 28–24 in Super Bowl XLIX on Sunday, and more than 114.4 million people in the United States tuned in to watch on television. That made the Super Bowl the most watched show in U.S. television history. That’s hardly a surprise, though. The Super Bowl is usually the most-watched show on U.S. television each year, and other Super Bowls previously held the record for most-watched show ever. However, this year’s Super Bowl came after a season in which off-field incidents overshadowed parts of the NFL season.
