Traveling between Los Angeles and San Francisco is about to get a lot faster. Construction has begun on a new train that could reach speeds of 220 miles per hour (354 km/h) and cut travel time between the two California cities in half. When completed in 2029, it will be the first high-speed train system in the country. There are some objections, however. Some people think the $68 billion price tag is too high, while others worry that the new tracks will cut off their communities.
