America’s most famous cities include New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. But its fastest-growing cities, according to the U.S. Census, are in the south and west. They include many cities in Texas near the capital, Austin, among them San Marcos, which grew by 8 percent between July 2012 and July 2013.
